Makhino was quoted saying over the weekend, that the Union planned to
join politics in 2017 in order to defend the rights of teachers.
In a statement released by COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, he
dismissed the allegations that KNUT plans to take over Labor Party of
Kenya in order to create a third force come in the 2017 elections.
In 2015 KNUT Trans Nzoia branch secretary Makhimo Waswa said that the teachers’ union would select a presidential candidate for next year’s general elections, who would address teachers grievances if elected.
