If u a regular nairobian, I mean those who are familiar with the downtown parts of the city. You must be aware of those buses that cause havoc at Ronald Ngala street. Crowded with touts shouting and hauling people on the streets to get into the buses those buses looks outdated. I mean the body shape is ugly, a foreigner might think we imported buses manufactured in the early 90’s yet they were fabricated just the other day These buses ply along Githurai 44 and Githurai 45route.

Over the years there has been a lot of drama associated with the public transport vehicles that ply along this route. Going down the memory lane you can cite a sad and satanic deed where a woman was stripped off her clothes in one of this very Ma3's. Several other incidents have passed by named and unnamed but little has been done to re-calibrate the situation. The touts to this Ma3's are crime cartels that only wear maroon uniforms to masquerade and confuse Kenyans as touts.

During my investigation I had to travel to this route and what I witnessed is down-casting. Passengers of these route are going through predicaments you cannot imagine. Touts harass and ill treat their clients. On one particular day we were traveling on a bus with registration number
car reg no. KBX 749Q
KBX 749 Q and on entry the tout had made it clear that the fare was 60 shillings but half way the journey when he was collecting the fare he overcharged and the passengers me included had to pay 100 Kenya shillings. I asked a person I happened to seat next to and he told me
" that's how these touts are they can even double the fare from the amount they had said and you just have to pay it because if you complain they will manhandle you."
On a different incident a woman paid a tout to a bus of the same route. The woman paid 1000 bob expecting to be given back 900 as her balance but the tout went missing immediately after he finished collecting fare from the passengers and another tout came in. When she demanded of her balance the other tout was harsh and asked her if she had paid her.

Pedestrians are not left out either, I once witnessed these touts robbing a pedestrian in broad day light along Ronald Ngala Street. They spot a person more so a lady as she is busy walking on the streets they come to you as a group of about 6 to 8 and confuse you as they shout pretending that they are convincing you to get to a bus and in the midst of all the havoc and confusion the will snatch your hand bag, watch, necklace and anything else that can snatch away from you and leave you stranded. Be warned these touts that ply along Githurai are thieves and goons who mask themselves with the responsibility of touts and use this opportunity to rob and steal from Kenyans.

This has been happening over and over again and since non of this is being highlighted in the media poor Kenyans will continue suffering since the relevant authorities only pretend to swing into action when the matter get way out of hand the only thing we can do is to wait for that day it gets to hot so that they may cool it...
